Bloomfield Hills man steers boat to victory in Mackinac race- Editor H2ONotes [ 7/20/2010 - 19:10 ] # The Natalie J, skippered and owned by cosmetic dentist Phil O’Niel III
of Bloomfield Hills, was the winner of its class in the Pure Michigan
Bayview Mackinac Boat Race from Port Huron to Mackinac.
The
Natalie J crossed the finish line at Mackinac Island just before
midnight Sunday, about six hours after the 80-foot Beau Geste of Hong
Kong, according to official race results.
A member of Detroit’s
Bayview Yacht Club for more than 30 years, O’Niel was “elated” as his
crew of 13 completed the Cove Island Course covering 254 nautical miles.
“I
go in expecting to win,” said O’Niel, whose office is at 1579 W. Big
Beaver, Suite B-6, Troy.

suspension bridge in Michigan.It was built in 1905 at an original cost
of $300. It spans 139 feet. The original bridge had just two cables
which were provided by Michigan Sugar Company and were used to support
the planks. To provide a handhold, two more cables were added at a cost
of $150.In August of 2006, all 128 planks were replaced at a cost of
