Fish white perch, help the lakes

The white bass run is coming to a close on the Sandusky River, but anglers may have an opportunity to catch unlimited white perch, and in the process, improve the quality of the Great Lakes and their tributaries.

White perch are classified as an invasive species in Ohio by the U.S. Geographical Survey and a nuisance species by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The fish have been recognized as the culprits feeding on the eggs of white bass and walleye. According to Tina Whitt from Angler's Supply in Fremont, the perch follow the white bass to eat their eggs.    more...
